“It is June. I am tired of being brave.” – Anne Sexton
What a year 2020 has been, and it’s only June! For the vast majority of humans, this year has demanded our bravery unlike any other in recent memory. We’re tired, and yet, we keep moving. Don’t forget to take care of yourself and each other, and try to have a little bit of fun in the midst of everything else. To help you out on that, here’s our monthly roundup of “Thing to Do in Denver.” This month our list is virtual-ish.

On this 2 hour walking tour of Downtown Denver, you’ll find out about Whiskey, History, and Outlaws! What do those three have to do with Denver? Denver was truly the Wild West, where dreams and fortunes were made, won, and lost. Gun fights, gambling, high stakes poker games, prostitution, Denver had it all. You’ll find out how and where Denver REALLY began as you start the tour outside the oldest brewery in Colorado. Along the way you’ll hear tales of the gunfighters, pioneers, con men, and kingpins of the underworld. You’ll learn about the bootleggers, smugglers and crime families that made Denver what it is today!

One more for the kiddos: This year, we are taking our June programs virtual. You usually have to be in Denver to attend – not this time! Our planned theme Play with Music – Let’s Get Moving is perfect for a virtual experience. Move and groove along with the music. This virtual, 30-minute program will feature performances from all of the musicians of the orchestra while a teaching artist leads children through fun movement and imagination-based activities to help engage them with the music. Kids will be encouraged to respond to every piece while learning about music and instruments. You’ll grow as music gets louder, march with a fun jazz trio, and bounce along like you’re riding on a horse – just to name a few. Limited Time Only: The virtual experience will only be available for two weeks, from June 7th to June 21st! You must register to get access to the event. Register here
